How to Generate a PDF Invoice for Free (Step by Step)

Invoices are a necessary and often dreaded part of business.

However, if you’re self-employed or work as a freelancer, then creating invoices is something that you will need to get good at.

There are numerous tools out there for generating invoices, but some of them do cost money.

In this article, I’m going to show you how to generate a PDF invoice using a free invoice generator tool.

The tool that we will be using to generate a PDF invoice is freeinvoicebuilder.com, it’s easy to use and only takes a couple of minutes.

Before you start, you need to select an invoice template and the currency that you want to use.

To select a template, click on the dropdown box at the top of the page, and then click on the template that you want to use.

To choose your currency, click on the dropdown box labeled “Currency Symbol”, and select the required currency.

Now, we are ready to start building our invoice.

This invoice builder uses clickable elements, so when you need to add or change information, click on one of the editable elements, and it will allow you to start making changes.

The editable elements are highlighted when you hover over them with your mouse so you can identify them easily.

Step 1. Add sender details

When you create an invoice, the first thing you need to do is add your company information.

This includes your company logo, company name, address, tax number, email address, and any other contact info.

To add your company information, you can either click on the “Sender contact details” element or click the “Add company info” button located below the currency selector.

To upload your logo, either drag your logo file into the logo element or click the “select a file” button.

Step 2. Add recipient details

Now, you need to add the details for the person or company that the invoice is being sent to.

This information will be used to identify the invoice addressee.

To add recipient details, you can either click on the element labeled “Recipient contact details”, or click the “Add client info” button located to the right of the invoice.

Step 3. Add invoice details

After adding sender and recipient info, you should add the invoice details, this includes invoice number, invoice description, invoice date, and due date.

Step 4. Add invoice items

To add an item to the invoice click “Add new invoice item”, and then add the item name, quantity, rate (which is the cost per unit), tax, and item description.

If you need to add another item, just click the “Add new invoice item” button again, and then add the info for the second item.

Step 5. Check the invoice

Check over the invoice to ensure that all of the information is correct.

Double-check that the contact info, due date, invoice items, tax info, and all over info that you added have no errors.

If everything is ok, the invoice is complete!

Step 6. Download & send the invoice

Finally, download the invoice, and either email it to the recipient or print it and hand it to them.

To download the invoice, click “Download” at the top right of your screen.

You can either create an account or download without an account, it’s up to you.

Once you have downloaded the PDF invoice, check it over again, then email it or print it out.
